Minutes 11-13-24 MINUTES OF THE ART ADVISORY BOARD HELD ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2024 IN CITY HALL COMMISSION CHAMBERS 100 E. OCEAN AVENUE, BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA PRESENT: Mark Cone Craig Clark, Director Arts and Culture Susan Froehlich Kelly Armstead, Division Director, Margaret Roberts Arts and Culture Ace Tilton Ratcliff ABSENT: Gregory Hartmann, Chair Hector "Sam" Velazquez Breion Moses 1. Call to Order In the absence of the Chair and Vice Chair, Craig Clark, Board Liaison, stated that the members needed to appoint a Chair for the meeting. Mx. Ratcliff indicated that they would Chair the meeting, but would need to first be moved up from an Alternate to a Regular Member for the meeting. Motion Ms. Froehlich moved to approve moving Mx. Ratcliff to a regular member for the meeting. Ms. Roberts seconded the motion. The motion unanimously passed. Mx. Ratcliff sat as Acting Chair and called the meeting to order at 6:35 P.M. 2. Pledge of allegiance The Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. 3. Roll Call Self Introductions were made. A quorum was present. 4. Approval of Agenda Motion Ms. Roberts moved to approve the agenda. Ms. Froehlich seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Public Audience None. 8. Announcements/Presentations/Correspondence Presentation by City Staff o new Kinetic Art Pieces Consider approval of new Kinetic Art Pieces. Mr. Clark presented a new outdoor piece by Artist Rubem Robierb and stated that he exhibited a similar piece in the past and that people loved it. He explained that this piece is an interactive piece. Motion Mx. Ratcliff moved to approve the piece. Ms. Froehlich seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Clark presented Wind Spinners by Artist Apaulo and he commented that the piece would be the centerpiece of the indoor show. He showed an image of the piece Motion Ms. Roberts moved to approve the piece. Ms. Froehlich seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Clark displayed the marketing piece that was created and a press release and pointed out that there was an error in it, which was corrected. He further stated that the show is coming together nicely, and that Ms. Armstead is handling the contracts. He said that they will identify the location of each piece. Mx. Ratcliff thanked staff for all their hard work. Mr. Clark praised Valerie Zucker as she has done great work. 9. Action Items 2 Meeting Minutes Art Advisory Board Boynton Beach, Florida November 13, 2024 None. 10. Unfinished Business Mx. Ratcliff asked about the entry gate for Barton Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Clark responded that it was approved by the Art Advisory Board with the name on the top of the arch. 11. New Business None 12. Future Agenda None 13. Adjournment It was announced that the Board will most likely not meet in December unless something comes up. Mx. Ratcliff requested a video of the Apaulo piece be sent to the members.
