R24-307 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF.THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 4 BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO COMPLETE THE 5 AMERICA IS ALL IN ALL-OF-SOCIETY LETTER AND APPROVING THE 6 STATEMENT FORM TO REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO CLIMATE 7 . ACTION.AND RESILIENCE;AND FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES.. 8 9 WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has long:exhibited leadership on climate and. 10 sustainability, having been at the forefront of adopting.the Southeast Florida Regional Climate 11 Change Compact (the Compact)'sinitial Regional Climate Action Plan (RCAP), development of a 12 citywide Climate Action Plan and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory, establishment of green 13 programs, and creation of a sustainability programthat reaches into several different aspects.of 14 the City.The City also adopted.the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact's Climate 15 Action Pledge in 2023, affirming the commitment to advancing strategic climate adaptation and 16 . mitigation efforts; and 17 WHEREAS, America Is All In is the largestcoalition of climate-focusedleaders in.the.U.S., , 18. representing nearly two-thirds of the population and about three-quarters of the country's GDP. 19 Their goal is to help government and society collaborate to accelerate climate progress to achieve 20transformational change and create a healthy, prosperous,and sustainable future for all:The goals 21 of this organization align with the efforts that the City has made towards climate resilience.and. 22 sustainability; and. 23 WHEREAS, the intention of signing the statement as a City is to build a shared platform 24 and deliver a common message on climate and clean energy leadership from the U.S..states and 25 territories,tribal nations, cities and counties,faith groups, labor groups, businesses, institutions of 26 finance, education, health, and culture. The goals and principles of the statement will beused.for 27 advocacy around these and other legislative and executive proposals, which could include future 28 funding opportunities for resilience projects, and 29 WHEREAS, the.City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, hasdeemed it in the 30 best interests of the,city's citizens and residents to authorize the Mayor to complete the America 31 Is All In All-of-Society Letter and approve the statement form to reaffirm commitment to climate 32 action and resilience. 33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY.COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON' 34 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: 35.. .
