Thank for helping out with the marketing on that Tiffany! · Working on tweaking/refining things for potential future programming in a similar vein; outreach & access are on the front burner for me & the archives as I would hope more people know we exist and how to access/use our wonderful materials. · Chipping away at backlogged acquisitions and weaving them into existing collections & reflecting that in finding aids for accessibility. · Shifting focus back to swapping out the current historic recipe display now that there are fewer monkeys on my back. The new plan: a display highlighting historic Boynton Beach tourism and local business materials — we have some great stuff to showcase going back 100+ years of businesses and tourism here. · Currently communicating with the BB Chamber of Commerce to add new materials to their current collection. · Still evermore polishing up the archives’ corner of the library website and trying to work on mobile accessibility; it really looks bad on smartphone which I imagine a good amount of our web traffic originates from. Additionally working on getting all of the now-digitized city directories set up on our webpage & making the navigating things a little more intuitive compared to what I have now for the current directories already uploaded. · Evermore continuing on accessioning new/donated materials, editing finding aids to be more accurate/deeper info/more up-to-date, and conducting reference/research for city employees/patrons access our materials/etc. · Identified multiple archival collections not meeting current archival preservation standards which need to be re-housed (e.g. some old collections aren’t in acid-free folders/boxes, and stored in ways that can be damaging in the long-term), and working on getting them all nice and neat so (hopefully) future generations can enjoy them. This is a bit time consuming but it’s worth it in the long-run! Staff assisted a local patron in developing branding materials for her small business and supported a range of creative projects using studio equipment. The Glowforge laser cutter was used to engrave family photos, while the Cricut machine helped patrons design and produce custom holiday greeting cards. We also taught an introductory 3D printing class, giving participants hands-on experience with designing and preparing models for print. In addition, we explored new techniques for creating laser-cut acrylic jewelry, expanding our skills and program offerings. The Dungeons & Dragons club continued with great turnout and enthusiastic participation from both new and returning players. Finally, we began building a Library of Things collection to allow patrons to check out tools and craft kits, further extending access to creative resources beyond the studio. This class will be a brief 60-minute chat alongwith instructions on how to use different technologies. AUGUST AGENDA:· September 4th – Let’s Chat AI· September 11th – Managing Storage on the iPhone & iCloud· September 18th – Understanding YouTube’s terms and policies· September 25th – What is 5G? Tech Talk has been more and more popular – every month, my numbers keep growing. The best compliment that I get is “Even when I feel like I know the topic, I always learnsomething new.” The hottest topic seems to be cloud storage and understanding how itworks and what goes into cloud storage. BOYNTON BEACH CITY LIBRARY PAGE 13 PUBLIC TECHNOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAMS Submitted by: Brianna Tabil 16 One-on-ones: I’ve been getting a few regulars for 1:1s. A lot of my appointments are about how tomanage their accounts. One patron was given a new iPad and didn’t know how to transferher data from one device to another. One patron that I had just returned from out of the country and needed help updatingher device since she returned to the states. We ended up synching her account to thecloud and she was able to pull down all her pictures from her vacation on to her iPad.I met with one artist who needed help setting up her website and how to navigateInstagram to use it to promote her artwork. We managed to navigate throughGoDaddy.com to help her set up her website and then we took clear pictures of herartwork, put it on Instagram and I showed her how AI could help her write viral socialmedia posts and come up with hashtags relevant to her artwork. Other Notes: I’m still trying to navigate virtual classes. Some of them have been big hitsand others have been a complete miss. Having a watch party was very entertaining butthat requires having an extra person to help navigate the smartboard.
