I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
2 BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE 2025 TREE CITY USA
3 DESIGNATION APPLICATION TO THE ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION;AND
4 FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES.

6 WHEREAS, the Tree City USA program recognizes municipalities that demonstrate a
7 continued commitment to effective urban forest management through meeting four core
s standards: maintaining a tree board or department, adopting a community tree ordinance,
9 allocating an annual forestry budget, and hosting an annual Arbor Day observance; and
10 WHEREAS, the City has maintained Tree City USA status for multiple years, reflecting the
l I City's ongoing investment in a healthy and resilient urban canopy. Renewing this designation for
12 2025 supports the City's sustainability, climate resilience, and community beautification goals
13 while also strengthening eligibility for future urban forestry grants and technical assistance; and
14 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the
1; best interests of the City's citizens and residents to approve the 2025 Tree City USA Designation
lo application to the Arbor Day Foundation.

IN NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
iO BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
20 SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
21 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption.
22 SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby
23 approve the 2025 Tree City USA Designation application to the Arbor Day Foundation (the
24 "Application"), in form and substance similar to that attached as Exhibit A.
25 SECTION 3. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, hereby
26 authorizes the Mayor to execute the Application. The Mayor is further authorized to execute any
27 ancillary documents as may be necessary to accomplish the purpose of this Resolution.
28 SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect in accordance with the law.
