R26-015 RESOLUTION NO. R26-015 1 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 3 BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR A GENERAL CITY ELECTION TO BE 4 HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 2026, FOR THE PURPOSE OF VOTING 5 ON THREE REFERENDUM QUESTIONS; AND FOR ALL OTHER 6 PURPOSES. 7 8 WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, Article III, Section 40, 9 and other applicable laws, provide that all general and special elections be called by resolution 10 adopted by the City Commission for the March 10, 2026, General City Election for the purpose of 11 voting on three referendum questions; and 12 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the 13 best interests of the city's citizens and residents to call for a General City Election to be held on 14 Tuesday, March 10, 2026, for the purpose of voting on three referendum questions. 15 1 n NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 17 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: lti SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as 19 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption. 20 SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby call 21 for a General City Election to be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, for the purpose of voting on 22 three referendum questions. 23 SECTION 3. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, acting on behalf of the City 24 Clerk, is hereby authorized and directed to close the registration books prior to said General 25 Election and to keep the said books closed for the required period in accordance with the 26 registration law. 27 SECTION 4. The Supervisor of Elections is authorized and directed to deliver the 28 appropriate registration books to the proper City precinct boards on or before the day and hour 29 set for the opening of the polls for the aforementioned General City Election, as the case may be. 30 The Clerk of each election precinct board is authorized and directed to forthwith return, or cause 31 to be returned by an authorized person or persons of said board, the said registration books to 32 the Supervisor of Elections immediately following the election. RESOLUTION NO. R26-015 33 SECTION 5. The polling places designated and fixed by the Board of County 34 Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, are adopted pursuant to law as the polling places 35 for said General City Election. 36 SECTION 6. The City Clerk is authorized and directed under the applicable laws and 37 code provisions to perform such ministerial duties as are necessary and proper to provide for the 38 holding and conducting of said election. 39 SECTION 7. The City Clerk is authorized to expend such sums of money as may be 40 necessary and proper in connection with the preparation for and holding of said election, 41 including the authorized compensation to be paid to the election inspectors and clerks, as 42 outlined in the Agreement with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections. 43 SECTION 8. The City Clerk is directed to furnish a certified copy of this Resolution to the 44 Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections. 45 SECTION 9.
