VII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1) Board Member Update: Introduction of New Board Member
Monique Bodden introduced herself and stated that she lives in Boynton and is active
with the Girl Scout Organization.
Chair Czizk welcomed her and noted the former chair was also involved with the Girl
Scouts. He explained that they are discussing an adult Senior Prom to be held on
September 12th and that the Board has to select the entertainment and caterer at this
meeting.
2) Brief review of Entertainment possibilities for Senior Prom (submitted to Board for
review on May 20th & reminders on May 27th a vote must be taken on the
remaining choices
Chair Czizk stated that one of the entertainment options dropped off the table. He
inquired if a determination was made on the budget.
Cody Bonanno, Recreation Manager, responded reasonable and justifiable funding was
available, and that the funds must be used efficiently.
Chair Czizk inquired if the members want a live band or a DJ.
Discussion followed about the matter and costs, and there was unanimous consent to
use DJ Marsha for the event.
There was a brief review of caterers for the Senior Prom (submitted to Board for review
on May 20th & reminder sent on May 27th)
Chair Czizk said that he found caterers, but had difficulty because they were for sit
down meals, and he did not know how much the City would commit. He said only one
caterer created the menu around the budget that he estimated which he reviewed. He
explained it was not a sit-down dinner. There would be finger food on the ground level,
then attendees would go upstairs with table seating for refreshments and drinks and
during breaks there would be self-serve finger foods. It is light fare, and the caterer sets
it up. He explained that no servers will mingle with attendees with appetizers like some
of the proposals that had wait staff. The caterer will be there for the full duration of the
event, and before and after to keep the food and beverages refreshed. Chair Czizk
thought when this was first discussed, the Mayor would be present and on the receiving
line at 5:30 P.M. All would then meander upstairs by 6:00 P.M. and the band will pay
from 6L00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with reasonable breaks. Attendees will park by the Art and
Culture Center and brought to the Women's Club.

Chair Czizik commented they originally estimated 200 attendees because the venue
says they can seat 196. Then they said it can seat 160. He said that there was a
concern about ticket sales and seats. They were unsure if the reason they were asked
to plan for 160 people is because they were unsure if each Commissioner would take
10 tickets each, and the idea was to have 40 people per district.
Chair Czizk reviewed some of the selections the caters made and the members
selected which ones to serve.
Mr. Bonano said he would contact the vendor, and he appreciated the Board going
through the process.
Marvelous Washington, the new Division Director, introduced herself and said that she
had met Chair Czizk and was glad to be at the meeting. She advised that she is
available to speak with the members at her office across the street in the Art and
Culture building. She said that she would budget for 200 people. She commented that
dignitaries usually bring guests and she thought they would stay for the entire event.
Chair Czizk mentioned that photobooths are often included with City events and the
Board has a photo person, but he commented that if it is economical, he would use the
City's photobooth vendor if they have a contract with him.
Ms. Washington said that they already have a vendor onsite that has been approved,
and staff would review it to see how much it is so they could budget for it.
She thought they could get sponsorships to offset the cost of amenities.
Chair Czizk commented they do not have beverages.
Ms. Washington said they would look at the City's beverage providers.
Chair Czizk inquired when they would start selling tickets.
Mr. Bonanno said they would start selling tickets next week at various locations through
the Rec Trac system.
Chair Czick said that they were excited about the band because they had a DJ when
the band took a break to keep things active. He thought they could speak to DJ Marsha
to do the same, perhaps having line dancing.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS

This item was previously discussed.

This item was previously discussed.
3) Sunshine Law reminder concerning communication outside the presence of
formal meeting.
Chair Czizk agreed with the Sunshine Law and said it is a point of frustration for the
Board. He said that it would help if there was a way to communicate.
Discussion followed about meeting more often.
Chair Czizk said that the meeting would have to be scheduled if it is urgent.
Mr. Bonanno said that if there is something pressing, the members should send it to Mr.
Rolle, and he can distribute it to the members.
Chair Czizk said that to have balance and make progress, they have to plan in advance.
He advised that when looking at the mission of the Senior Advisory Board, it says that
the Board is to identify the unmet needs of elderly residents and make
recommendations to meet those needs. He said that what the Board did so far was on
a social scale, but at nearly every City Commission meeting, every Commissioner has
an issue with affordable housing or nutrition. He noted that the Board does not have a
budget, and he asked if Mr. Rolle could ask what kinds of things they want the Board to
address because they need clarity.
Mr. Bonanno said that for the time being, it is taking advantage of the different
resources, not necessarily having a resource fair. It could be something that seniors
can sit in and learn more about mental health, wellness and different things. He said
there are a lot of organizations that do that at little cost. He said he could not speak to
the budget and commented that he did not know the budget for next year.
Chair Czizk said that the Board has wonderful ideas but is hampered by no funds. He
commented that a former Board Member, Ms. Levine, spent a great deal of time
gathering businesses that could benefit seniors and list them on a centralized website,
and at one time the City was supporting her, but he did not know the disposition of that
effort.
Mr. Rolle commented that 211 is the senior hotline, which the Board can promote with
the Area on Aging and stated that they are a fast resource to connect services for
seniors. He mentioned that the Senior Center
Chair Czizk explained that the City has put out directories in the past, but Ms. Levine
was trying to put together a single point of shopping on the City's website for seniors to
access social services and contacts. He said they put together a senior program at the
Arts and Cultural Center for seniors for estate planning. He said that there were
roundtable discussions with Trustbridge, that had wonderful information geared for

seniors and caregivers for insurance, long term care, food, shelter and more, and he
said that they understand the necessity for socializing, and he said that he will bring it
up after the Senior Prom.
Chair Czizk stated that as for refreshments, some of the sponsors advocated for or
were going to purchase center pieces for the tables, which can be raffled off.
Mr. Bonanno said he would discuss it with Mr. Johnson and staff.
