1. Call to Order
Chair Pacilli called the meeting to order at 6 P.M.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
The members recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
3. Roll Call
Roll call was taken. A quorum was present.
4. Agenda Approval
Dr. North added Vote for Vice Chair to Unfinished Business.
Chair Pacilli added four small items about signage she will discuss together to New
Business as Item 7 B.
Mr. Pastorious added a discussion about the Bocce Courts to New Business 7 C.
Upcoming events will be Item 7 D.
Motion
Ms. Pandev moved to approve the agenda as amended. Mr. Pasatorious seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously.

There was discussion on Page 4 that Allison Pandev is not the Vice Chair, although at the
time, the members thought she was. Chair Pacilli commented it was fine that they left it
there, and now they know.
Motion
Dr. North moved to approve the minutes. Ms. Pandev seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously.
6. Unfinished Business
A. City Website Update- Recreation is working with IT to upgrade current landing
page for department.
Justin Johnson, Marketing and Outreach Director, continuing to work with city to update
rec page and rec and cultural dept pages as a whole to make everything whole, it is an
ongoing process. There are some pages they had full access to edit without ITS, with
others having various degrees of involvement with ITS, and some only able to be edited
by ITS. He said they will have a meeting with ITS next week to formalize the process as
they are trying to streamline it. He noted the MyBoynton App is closely tied to it, but some
need permissions and have to be done by ITS.
Dr North praised staff and commented the website it is more user friendly and easier to
find.
B. Signage
Chair Pacilli asked for updates on signage.
Mr. Johnson said he was in contact with Mounts Botanical Gardens. It is a matter of what
they are allowed to do in terms of their grants, and what they can do in terms of their
funding and for City branding. He expressed frustration and commented they are making
program, but not in the completion stage. He advised when they have a substantial
update, he will report it.
C. Election of Vice Chair
Mr. Wojciechowski volunteered to be Vice Chair.
Motion
Dr North moved to nominate Mr. Wojciechowski as Vice Chair, Ms. Pandev seconded
the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

A. Project Updates
1, Beach Renourishment Project Completion
Mr. Johnson spoke about the project at Ocean Front Park and said the beach suffered
severe erosion due to strong storms. He advised that they started the renourishment
project in Mid -March. He said the project was a collaboration between the City, Palm
Beach County Environmental Resources, the Army Corp of Engineers and an
independent contractor, Weeks Marine, to restore the beach and dredge. He said the
dredging was finished last week and they are now removing all the equipment from the
beach. He announced the entire project should be done before the end of the week and
available for the Memorial Day Weekend.
Dr. North asked about the shell project.
Mr. Johnson responded there wasn't enough shell, and a lot of it was hard coral at the
bottom, so there was not enough shell material to drop. He said the gray color will change
with time from the sun.
As for the camera and live access, Mr. Johnson said staff is meeting with the vendor about
the possibility of adding beach cameras. He said there will be one camera is facing
towards the beach and another towards the parking lot.
Chair Pacilli asked if the cameras would be connected to the Police Department.
Mr. Johnson said it is a real time camera that anyone can log into, but it is an internal
matter.
2. Pence Field Updates
Dawson, "Reggie", Danois, Recreation Manager, said maintenance of the fields at Pence
and Wilson Parks are complete. He announced the goal is to open during the summer,
and that the field closures have allowed the fields to recover. He said they want to add
periodic closure of the fields at both parks into their maintenance schedule and the park
closings will be rotated.
Mr. Danois briefly introduced himself and said he has been involved in recreation for 17
years and he had worked all levels of recreation all the way up the ladder. He announced
he is from Boynton and attended school here.

Mr. Danois stated that the vendor chosen called Dope Vegan who will offer vegan and
non -vegan foods. He stated they have a wide variety of options and that the website will
be updated.
Chair Pacilli commented they had spoken about fitness at parks and about putting
signage that says one lap equals what distance, or what exercises can be done. She
thought it would be beneficial and suggested it be added where there are long walkways.
Mr. Johnson said they were discussing adding QR Codes to the signage with that
information and discussion followed it does not need use exercise equipment, just
instructions to do certain exercises and why or what it accomplishes.
Chair Pacilli said it engages adults and youth, and they could incorporate scavenger
hunts. She talked about her experience with Secret Garden scavenger hunt type
activities on a self -guided tours. She also spoke about trees and if there were any plans
to remove palms and replace them with trees having canopies.
Mr. Johnson said they had a discussion with the Sustainability Department and they are
discussing it.
Chair Pacilli suggested even a butterfly garden and said she would like to see some of
these were enacted and they can add it to the next agenda.
Chair Pacilli said there is a park near her house and the sign was faded.
Mr. Johnson said they are in the process of getting updated park hours and another sign.
Chair Pacilli said she did not see recycle bins at all in some parks and some don't have
signage on what is to go in the bin. She also said they voted on shirt logo and asked for
an update. Justin will research.
Mr. Pastorius said the guys loved the bocce ball court improvements and are asking for
more. He said that this year they had more players and they are requesting to have the
courts from January to mid-April. He explained that they have become a bocce club and
they may be able to have more leagues. He said they put a bin out there and it was
broken into several times. He said nothing was stolen, but they need a better structure.
He said they have the canopy down the side, but they would like one on the middle and
possibly one on the other side. He said department did a great job, but it still needs work,
but should wait till end of season. He said the shade trees are ruining the courts when
they drop their leaves.
B. Upcoming Events - Justin
Mr. Johnson announced they held the Mothers Day Luncheon at Intracoastal Park and
47 people attended. He said there was music, food and a good turnout. He said the next

Friday was the Mother's Day Brunch at the Senior Center and about 50 people attended.
He advised they had a photo booth and are now preparing for the Senior Prom.
Mr. Johnson said this Thursday is adult game night extravaganza. He announced it is a
free event for those 18 and older and there is food, drinks, and music. He noted Friday
at 8 a.m. will be the Memorial Day Flag planting at Boynton Beach Memorial Park. He
said it is always a popular event. And this Sunday is the Memorial Day Ceremony at the
Cemetery at 2 P.M.
Mr. Johnson said Saturday, June 13th, the League of Women Voters will hold a forum
about the importance of verifying voter information. He said it from 10 AM to 2 at PM at
the Boynton Beach Police Department. He also announced the Juneteenth Event on
June 20th from 2 to 7 p.m. at Sara Sims Park, He said there will be food trucks, live
entertainment, choirs and vendors recognizing the end of slavery in the US. He further
announced the 4th of July will be back at Intracoastal Park.

Chair Paciello announced the next meeting.
Mr. Barry asked if there a way to call in for a meeting via Zoom.
Mr. Johnson agreed to check with the City Clerk.

There being no further business to discuss, Ms. Pandev moved to adjourn. Vice Chair
Wojciechowski seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
