A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING ACTION BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION.
WHEREAS, the City coUncil of the City of Boynton~ Beach,
Florida, has been requested by the Boynton Beach Chamber of
Commerce for support in requesting that the Florida Department
of Tran'sportation place on their five-year bridge building
program a new high-silhouette bridge over the Intracoastal
Waterway, continuing the approach to the bridge eastward from
the juncture of U. S. Highway ~1 and State Road 9804 (N. E.
Second Avenue) to A1A, thereby relieving hazardous and potentially
dangerous congestion of traffic movement eastward from 1-95 and
the Florida Turnpike on State Road #804 to U. S. Highway ~1,
southward two blocks on U. S. Highway ~1, then eastward on Ocean
Avenue East in order to reach A1A; and
WHEREAS, %he Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce has offered
to work hand in hand with the said City Council in order to
support the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation and the
Department of Transportation to cause the construction of the
following two long overdue projects, i.e., (a) the Turnpike
Interchange at State Road ~804 (N. W. Second Avenue), and (b)
the four-laning of State Road ~804 westward to the Turnpike
interchange; .and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach
deems it necessary and essential for ~h~S~fs~y ~ndi~ubli~Tws~fare
of the community that the projects set forth hereinabove be
commenced as soon as possible.
NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the Department of Transportation of
the State of Florida be and is hereby requested to take immediate
action to provide for a new high-silhouette bridge over the
Intracoastal Waterway, continuing the approach to the bridge
eastward from the juncture of U. S. Highway ~1 and State Road
~804 to A1A as aforesaid, in the City of Boynton Beach.
Sect~ion ~2: That the Department of Transportation of the
State of Florida be and is hereby requested to take immediate
action to cause the construction of a Turnpike Interchange at
State Road 9804, as aforesaid, and to four-lane State Road ~804
westward to the Turnpike Interchange, as aforesaid.
Section 3: That a true and certified copy of this
Resolution be furnished forthwith to the Department of Transpor-
tation of the State of Florida and to all other appropriate
authorities.
