R66-JJJl RESOLUTION NO. 66-,.I,~ WHEREAS, the Florida State Road Deparlmeni and the County of Palm Beach is in the process of completing final plans for the construction of a limited access highway, to wit; 1-95 through the municipal limits of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA; and, WHEREAS, the present plans as proposed, fail to provide for a grad( separation at the intersection of said highway 1-95 and West Ocean Avenue;and, WHEREAS, the said West Ocean Avenue constitutes one of the major arterial East-West thoroughfares through the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH and is the Western terminus of the main highway connecting the Town of Ocean Ridge and the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH over the State Road Department bridge spanning the Intra-Coastal Waterway; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed imperative that the said Ocean Avenue not be blocked inasmuch as such blockage would seriously impair the ability of the municipality to protect the resic~rces lying West of highway 1-95 from fires, as well as to effectively service said area in other matters of public health, and safety; and, WHEREAS, it is further deemed imperative that said thoroughfare remain open to East-West traffic in order to implement the master developme~ plan for the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: That the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County and the State Road Department (f the State of Florida are hereby respectfully urge to include and incorporate in the final plans for the development and construc- tion of Highway 1-95 through the municipal limits of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, a grade separation crossing at the intersection of the said Highway 1-95 and West Ocean Avenue. -1- PASSED and ADOPTED this 18th day of July, A.D. 1966.
