02-06-61b RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Members of the BOYNTON BEACH FIRE
DEPARTMENT did during the early morning hours on Februaryl, 1961,
respond to a certain fire call at the KWIK-CHEK grocery store located in
the Boynton Beach Shopping Area, and did then and there through their
well coordinated and efficient efforts, arrest a conflagration of major
proportions thereby eliminating extensive property damage and personal
injury to the inhabitants of this municipality; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the municipality recognizing
that the heroic and exemplary efforts of the members of the municipal fire
department above described not only brought widespread credit and recog-
nition to the Department but also to the municipality as a whole, and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the municipality deems it only
fitting and proper that such efforts be officially recognized and commended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, that the members of the
BOYNTON BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT participating and aiding in the
control and extinguishment of the fire tragedy occuring at the KWIK-CHEK
SHOPPING CENTER in the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, on the morning
of February 1, 1961, be individually and jointly officially commended by the
governing body of said municipality, and further that copies of this resolutic
be placed in the individual employment records of each such individual
participaing in this effort.
