A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,.
STRONGLY OPPOSING HOUSE BILL 933 AND
SENATE BILL 548; AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A
COPY OF SAID RESOLUTION TO THE
APPROPRIATE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE AND
SENATE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, House Bill 933 and Senate Bill 548 seek to authorize local
police and fire pension boards under Chapter 175 and 185 to invest, without city
approval, in any asset in which assets of the Florida Retirement System may be
invested; and
WHEREAS, the proposed legislation, as written, lacks language giving
the city direct involvement in the approval of investment decisions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida
does hereby strongly oppose House Bill 933 and Senate Bill 548.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
passage.
