Adjournment \ SPEeIAL eRA BOARD MEETING OF: March 31, 2009 I I Consent Agenda I I Old Business I I New Business I I Legal I I Other SUBJECT: Consideration of Resolution 09-02 Granting Authority to Boynton Harbor Marina Project Manager SUMMARY: Attached is a draft resolution that is required by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission's, Florida Boating Improvement Program "before" an application can be submitted. The resolution gives the CRA staff the authority to actually apply for the grant. The resolution simply authorizes the "Project Manager" to apply for and administer the grant on behalf of the applicant. The deadline for application to the grant program is April 2, 2009. Our next CRA Board meeting is not until April 14th. The Florida Boating Improvement Program provides grant funding for such projects as; boat ramps and docks; public launching facilities; boater education; and economic development initiatives. Staff would like to apply for grant funding under two eligible categories; boat ramps and docks, and economic development initiatives, for use with the eRA's Marina Slip Renovation Project. While the amolmt of program funding per grant award is uncertain until the applications are reviewed, staff is recommending that the agency request between 25-75% in grant funding as per the application. As you are aware, the cost estimate for the slip renovation project will be between $450,000-600,000. A grant award of even 50% would be advantageous in off-setting the amount of our PBC Waterfront grant funds. As with any grant award program, making application does not guarantee funding.
